Which royal is a Barbie
Which royal is a Barbie. As the Monaco royal family gets a (dare we say reluctant?) new member in the form of Prince Albert's bride Charlene Wittstock, his mother — the late Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco — will be immortalised by Mattel as part of their Barbie Collector Series.
Mattel are releasing three Grace Kelly dolls each donning an iconic outfit. "The Bride Doll" is dressed in the famous long-sleeve white gown from her wedding to Prince Rainier of Monaco (along with a veil, earrings and small prayer book in hand!); "The Romance Doll" comes in a black floral-print dress that Grace wore at the 1955 Cannes Film Festival where she met her prince; and the "To Catch a Thief" Barbie wears the chiffon stole Grace's character wore in the Alfred Hitchcock film of the same name to win the heart of Cary Grant.
The "To Catch a Thief" and "The Bride Doll" Barbie are available now at www.barbiecollectors.com and the other will go on sale in October. A percentage of sales will benefit the Princess Grace Foundation USA which helps up-and-coming artists in film, dance and theatre through scholarships.
So you can totally justify buying a doll for yourself and not a 10-year-old niece!
