The couple have been dating for seven months, after meeting at Elton John's Oscars party in February, but they STILL needed a translator and we can see how that wouldn't have been ideal.
They even had to use a translator to split up over the phone earlier this week. Awkward.
A "member of Katie's camp" confirmed the news to the Sunday Mirror: "It's not great timing with her new TV show about to launch but both Kate and Leandro needed to be happy and that meant going their separate ways."
Apparently, Leandro told Katie it would be best if he returned home to Argentina and she agreed.
The source added: "The language barrier was ultimately the problem for them."
It's quite an about-turn, as just days ago Leandro said: "Yes, we have a project of a family. If tomorrow we marry it's because we feel right."
They've been apart for the last week, with Katie partying with the TOWIE girls while Leandro holidayed with his family in Miami.
Last night she was smiling on a night out with her BFF and make-up artist Gary Cockerill.
Katie doesn't stay single for long: she met Leandro the month after she announced her split from Alex Reid, and she started dating Alex two months after she split with Peter Andre.
We hope she finds 'the one' next time…
