The man dubbed the "Granddad Bandit" allegedly began his robbery spree in December of 2008 in Richmond. According to the news release, the man enters the bank calmly and oftentimes waits his turn in line before approaching the tellers. Then he presents a demand note, according to authorities.
Once his demands are met he takes the note and leaves the banks quietly to not bring attention to the robberies, according to authorities. States that the suspect has hit include: Virginia, Alabama, Texas, Georgia and New York. He has not robbed any banks in Hampton Roads, according to the release.
The man is described as a white man between 45-60 years of age, stocky build, 6'- 6'3, balding with short grayish hair on the sides. He is clean shaven, wears wire-rimmed glasses, polo-type shirts and ball caps.
