Roseanne Barr president
Roseanne Barr president. Roseanne Barr, the actress who sparked national controversy for singing "The Star Spangled Banner" off-key, revealed some surprising plans last night on NBC's "Tonight Show" to host Jay Leno: She wants to run for president.Barr told Leno she chose his show to break her news because actor Arnold Schwarzenegger was elected governor of California after announcing his plans on the program in 2003. "My announcement is that I am running for president of the United States," Barr said. But she quickly followed up, saying she also plans to run for prime minister of Israel, in what she presented as a "two-fer." "I'm totally serious," said the star of the new reality show "Roseanne's Nuts," about her political aspirations. "Because I want to be part of the debates. Because you know I want to represent the taxpayers," she said, adding that she'd want them to be her vice president.

In true Roseanne Barr fashion, she said both parties "suck" and are "criminals." She said she would do away with taxes entirely and wants to start a Green Tea Party.

Barr appeared on the show to tout her new Lifetime program, which focuses on her managing a 40-acre macadamia and livestock farm in Hawaii.

Though the announcement may have been a total publicity stunt, there are assorted other celebrities who say they are seriously weighing political bids.
