Rapper T I back in jail 2011
Rapper T I back in jail 2011. Rapper T.I. Back in Prison -- 1 Day After Release. Just one day after being released from prison Wednesday morning, the rapper was back in federal custody. The Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed to TMZ that T.I., 30, checked into a federal penitentiary in Atlanta Thursday night.

The reason? Law enforcement officials told the site that when a prisoner transfers from a low or medium security prison to a halfway house, the inmate may use a private, unescorted mode of transportation. The prisoner, however, must specifically state what mode of transportation they'll be using.

Sources told the site that the rapper (real name: Clifford Joseph Harris, Jr.) told prison officials he'd be taking a van, but failed to mention the high-end tour bus he actually used.

In October 2010, T.I. was sentenced to 11 months in prison for breaking his federal probation after he was arrested in L.A. on drug charges.

This wasn't T.I.'s first stint in the slammer. He previously served seven months in an Arkansas prison in 2009. He was originally arrested in 2007 for trying to buy unregistered guns and silencers from undercover federal agents.

"The storm is over and da sun back out," he tweeted Wednesday. "It's our time to shine, shanty! Welcome to the beginning of our happy ending."
